Cactus Breeze

Cactus Breeze is a soulful journey.

Imagine trekking across the desolate desert alone. A wind is blowing with enough force to carry the needles from the nearby Prickly Pear Cacti. They, like loneliness, sting and stay with you.

After a while, you stop at a little café. A waitress dressed in black brings your order with a forlorn look and a lonely smile. You identify. Loneliness. It seems like a living thing, like a hurt, a pain, a needle sting. You’ve both been seized by a Cactus Breeze.

Cactus Breeze was written by me Jo Vickers (aka Jo Wilburn), Dan Wilburn, and Mark Tokach. The music came first, a guitar track, instigated and originated by Dan and Mark. Mark named it Cactus Breeze. I thought the name matched the haunting mood and wrote the lyrics and melody around that title to fit the music. Later, I learned that Mark used that name because it’s the street he lives on, meaning this is from Cactus Breeze. Happy coincidences.
